There are two marks 50m ( from memory ) apart on the road and the sound meter is 15m from the drive by line offset at 90 deg midway between the two marks.

You arrive at the first mark at 50Kph and floor it and then snap shut at the second mark.

You then turn around and come back in the opposite direction and repeat another two times.

The results for all runs must be repeatable and the average within spec.

As I said I took four attempts to get through and John ( Cobra guy ) took two attempts, the harmonics put out by a four do you no favours and a clubbie has far less body work between the engine and the sound meter than a Cobra, so the bang coming out through the block has little to damp it.

I had the entire car lined with acoustic foam, a double pass and triple pass muffler, a baffle plate in the pipe and stainless steel wool pads in the exhaust and a sheet of 6mm ply under the engine bay.

With the car strangled that badly you don't want to drive it any further than you have to so trailer it to the test location, hitting V-max is not an issue, Nemo has also seen 170 in 3rd at Wakey.

The noise test when applied as per the ADR IMHO is the toughest test in the ICV process, until you get to the petty stuff at the end.
