I also used Rustoleum enamel (
oil based). I brushed it on. It is a flat sheen paint and leveled very well upon drying. I have had other parts powderoated --rear axle, spindles, front struts and I like the contrast between the gloss finished parts and the flat frame. It will be easy to touch up too.
