Default It's not that easy

Donkeykong Here's a couple of quick questions,
#1 what oil are you using, 5-30,10-30, 10-40, and the list goes on
#2 what oil pump is in the motor, standard, HP.,HV., HPHV., Blueprinted
there are about 6 different spring pressures for the pump.
#3we don't know who built the motor and what clearances where used
#4 valve train used and any oil modification to the heads and block.
#5 Clearances of bearing on the bottom end?
The 10 psi for every 1,000 rpm is for a SMALL BLOCK CHEVY MOTOR not an FE. SBC motor have wide bearings and 200 less grams of rotating mass.
#6 oil pan, which one are you running? stock 5.0 quarts, upto 7.0 quarts race pan for 1/4 mile. "T" oil pan which holds about 7-8 quarts. After market which could hold upto 12 quarts. I tell anyone running any motor to overfill the motor by 1-1.5 quarts. Ford FE motors have slow oil returns from the heads. This is a whole other thread.
Kong it sound like you got a nice car without any real info on it and specs. The 2 points I will give to you is that the oil pressure reading you see on the gauge IS NOT what the heads are getting. There is a 10-30 psi drop between bottom of the motor and top. Don't allow the motor to idle long. Point 2 look into an accusump as a pre oiler for the motor and to help keep oil pressure up on high "G" turns. Rick L.
