Default 351w running much better

Hey Guys,
My 351 crate ( holley 750cfm ) was running a little rough and was hard to start, so I have been doing some investigating.

I'm starting with the assumption that the carb and engine were setup correctly at the factory. Before ordering my Holley ( 750cfm vac ) I checked Holley's website and pluged in the components of my engine and purchased the unit they recommended.

My investigation started by checking out the Holley website.

Holley TV : Featured Holley TV // on the PowerTV Network

After watching the videoes I checked my vacuum lines and found a leak that I fixed.
Now the engine is much easier to start and idles better at a lower RPM.
I'm planning on buying a vacuum gauge to so I do more checking.

There is also an informative video on the importance of selecting the proper spring for the secondaries. My spark plugs tend to foul up so I'm wondering if I put in the wrong spring. Right now I have the yellow spring installed.

Timing is the next item on my list to check. I don't know a thing about timing/vac advance, so I checked youtube and found this:

How to set your ignition timing - YouTube

So far the tuning up my engine has been educational and fun.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Roger
