I believe to each his own with these cars. That said, I replaced the stock headers and sidepipes with a set of Firefly SS headers and a re-worked sidepipe system using your 2 1/2 inch mufflers. All I can say is that combination woke my FE up. The seat-of-the-pants improvement and much improved sound was great. I was never happy with the stock set-up. Maybe I'm just different from "most".
