I just came across
this article on Hemmings Blog which identifies "the monstrosity in the river" as a
Microplas Mistral.
According to Hemmings, the Mistral was a fibreglass rebody over an Austin Healey chassis and was distributed under license in the U.S. by Bud Goodwin, of (later) Fiberfab fame.
