Default AC Cobra CRS

The AC Cobra CRS is a variant of the MkIV and is described in the AC Owners Club Registry as a 'Cobra MkIV CRS'

It has a Carbon Fibre body which was built by Pro-Tech Motorsport Ltd, and the 37 production cars were built by AC at Brooklands in 2000 and 2001 (a prototype was built in 1999). Most cars when built had a 225hp Fuel Injected 5 litre Ford V8 and a five speed manual gearbox but two, known as '212 S/C' had the 350hp twin turbocharged Lotus V8 engine. The CRS was the last of the 'production' cars built by the ACs company in England (as distinct from the Mk111 continuation cars). AC were legally entitled to use the 'Cobra' moniker until June 2002.

The cars have an authentic Cobra shape and are well built although the dashboard is sometimes criticised for its modern controls. These cars are considered to be good value for money and usually sell quickly - prices are normally between £40 - £50k ($62-$78k) but the S/Cs are more expensive. All the cars were built for the UK market apart from one which was sold to a 'D Smith' in Santa Fe - the AC Registry describes this car as a 'Left Hand Drive Special Lightweight' but the engine used is not specified.

Here's an example on sale at present:
