I'd have add driving skill or experience to the list of things that should limit the choice of engine build and horsepower. In "Bitten By the Snake" Bob Olthoff, Sr (spelling?) he points out that most people approached him wanting 400 HP in their Cobra build, wherein they had never driven a car with that much horsepower, they had just heard about it. I think his advice was 350 HP with a 351W.

On the "How much is too much" thread currently running, I saw some wisdom in one guy's post who wrote that he started in the mid-300's and is working his way up toward 500 (or something like that---too lazy to find the post).

So, it depends on who's driving. For some, 400 HP would be ridiculous, or at the very least unsafe or dangerous. We've all seen the video of the woman that drives a half block and then peels out into a pole.

So, I'm thinking the best answer to the question should be another question: What knd of driving experience do you have?
