Depending on the exhaust set up the exhaust pulses are going to create a distinct sound.

The 289 and early 302 used the same 15426378 firing order as the FE.
Your can run either cam. There are still a lot of SB running the older firing order.
I am running a 347 with the new firing order. Most people who hear it swear it is a BB. Some of those people were gear heads. I not saying they sound the same.
I am saying the difference is not so overwhelming that anyone can tell the difference.
