I IDA 3C is used primarily on air cooled Porche 6 cyl engines which runs a lot hotter than our water cooled V8's, and transfer more heat into the carb body.
One modification used on 2BBL IDA's used by the VW guys that drag race is to enlarge the float bowl capacity by machining the wall inside the carb body and allowing fuel into a void that is normally unused.
