I was able to get more done yesterday and today. After removing the right rear wheel, I measured movement in the lower outer pivot at .010" left side and .015" on the right side. is this excessive? This is measured with a dial indicator at the top outboard side of the wheel mounting surface.

Also, While looking things over around the differential, I found the shim at the lower left rear loose and the right was missing completely. Reinserted the left shim and replaced the right shim with .060" shim and tightened everything.

Test drive, still clunks. Filled with gas, still clunks.

Is the movement noted above excessive? Should I rebuild the lower outer pivots? Is this even something to be concerned about? Help!
