Just checked the coil wire. I removed it at the distributor cap and checked for spark against the frame. Only saw a few small sparks every 5 or so seconds. Should it be a more vigorous and stronger spark? If so, how can I tell that it is the coil and not something further "upstream"?

I do not have an automotive test light. Anything else I can use?
