Both are made by Tremec but there are some subtle differences. Shifter looks a little different along with some of the webbing. There are some minor gearing differences but not enough to mention. There also appears to be a missing output for the speedo cable on the Ford Racing.

I can buy the Ford Racing locally but what I want is the Tremec TCET4617.
Price is the same for both and the local dealer is competative price wise.
I was thinking if I buy local then the tax portion is done and I do not have to worry about shipping costs.
Is there a difference between the two?

They're the same. It's just that the pictures for the Ford Racing version are of older transmissions.
In most cases, shipping would be less than local taxes. Sales tax here is 6%, which would be close to $140 on top of the sales price, and I can ship one for less than $140.
