Larry, I thought about that but it seems to just lock it all together.

Jim, there is a hole in the hinge arm. It goes though the 1/8" and then the arm. I really didn't want to add the 1/8" but as the arm came down when closing in it's arc, it came to close and would have bound up on the bracket. The spring pin extends only 1/4" so I needed that 1/8" to engage the pin. Another car may not need it at all. Todd, the guy that showed me the system did not have to add anything to his car. It depends if the arm moves perfectly straight in it's arc.

I am still evaluating doing it on the front. I have some ideas to move it away from the radiator that may work.
