Hi welcome, I also have a very early CCX . I bought it at the factory at 5-7 Tecumseh ave Mt Vernon NY in late 1980. When I was talking to Peter Bayer and Montti Gotti when I was picking the car up asked them how many cars they have done.? Mine was #102 So I asked if they had done 102 cars or 2 cars? Peter was a guy you could never get a straight answer from and told me somewhere in between. But talking to Montti they started at 100 and the first few were more like prototypes. They then they switched to a dating system for the serial number then went to a CCX# system. So #18 I don't know where you got that number but there is probably some more numbers on the frame. look on the frame on the drivers side up by the front suspension. Good luck and welcome.
