It's not like you spend all week running the valves so you can drive it on the weekend. On a proper setup, you should have to adjust the valves less times than you change the oil.....change the fuel filter....check belt tension......

All the years I ran solids never once had a concern for running them most of the season.After running them a while and adjusting them a few times you become one with them.Also once they are all seated and run in they stay adjusted a long time.
Heck you could always do what Harley did with their Panhead motors line the inside of the valve covers with felt to muffle the clatter.
