Years ago(sometime in 70s) I used to go around to John Deere dealers to get old sleeves from there farm tractors---they were very high quality material and the thousands of heat/cool cycles they went thru made them very stabile cores to use for machining into my race projects back then (Donovan and Rodeck ) blocks---also used some smaller bore stuff for the stock block Indy cars mid 80s-------
