Hi Barry I have a shelby motor in my car. I have Alum. everything but the crank, camshaft, oilpan (cantonroadracing),lifters, ARP bolts, dampener ATI. My motor weight is 540 lbs. The motor is great. The block and heads cost 8k$ but worth every dollar. Genniss has come out with two new motors, one iron and the other alum. iron one is about 3k$. It might be worth the payout and buy a new block and not mess with an old one. If you buy used, sell to a machine shop and get a sonic test and pressure test on the block befor you do anything. Talk to George Anderson at GESSford. He will help you and is very honest about FE motors.Good luck with your motor. Alumium is the way to go Rick Lake ( if you can aford the cost)
