Tim got it ERA 717. The jury is still out on what it may need, only time will tell. For now, when I have the time, I'll do the usual compression and leak down tests, then use a flexible bore scope to dig deeper, maybe even pull the pan off before actually yanking the motor.

PS: Are there any casting/stamp marks on the Dove heads to differentiate between older and newer castings? I ask because I remember some time back that a pallet load of "defective" (overly porous) Dove heads disappeared from their loading dock. Want to make sure I do not have a set of those on my hands
