I've seldom participated in car shows for this reason although I do go to a Sonic cruise in 6 or 7 times a year and annual car show that my car club sponsors. I'm fortunate to never have had my vehicle damaged by anyone but I'm inclined to go less and less all the time due mostly to behavior like this. The vast majority of people are just jerks anymore. You see it everywhere - airplanes, movie theaters, on the street, etc. I think of myself as an average Joe but I would never conduct myself like a large part of the crowds I see dropping in at car shows and cruise ins. Of course some of them are just unappreciative of the car culture in general and just see cars as daily transportation - never intending to purposely damage anyone's property. These are the folks that you find leaning on your dusty fender or kicking the tire. But why they even bother to stop and come in I don't understand. And then there are the jerks like the 2 guys fighting and oblivious parents pushing strollers along cars and letting little ones run loose to jump up and down on 32 Ford running boards that really just seem to be hell bent to cause all the damage they can.
