351 approx. 400hp. The cars always runs great, no other problems. Thanks for any ideas. This never happens after the car has sat overnight.
Steve:
I had the same problem and it was a multiple solution type problem, so far what they have said about insulating the starter it is true, however, you might need a high torque starter.

I changed mine and in addition it is well insulated, check your gas lines and their proximity to the engine you might want to insulate them as well.

I installed a 1/2 " phenolic spacer for the carb, I changed the gas filter and ensured that my air filter was the appropriate one as well.

How is the engine temp, optimum temp is bout 180-190* if it is over than that you might want to check your coolant, I use Prestone less than 50:50 ratio plus water wetter. Open road I am doing 180-185* short and stop 200* that's when my fans kick on. This is just to start with. I hope that this gives you some ideas .
Sincerely
Lou
PS
Make sure that you are not over boiling the gas and emptying the carb bowls when the car is turned off.
