If using the copper gaskets, you might want to think about putting 'em on with the raised side toward the header rather then the head. That way the bump will conform to any irregularity or uneveness in the header flange.

Although, Jack21- it seems to have worked well for you doing the opposite, so who knows? I guess I'll have to try some of the copper RTV on the side pipe/header slip-fit joint. Everything else I've used blows out within a couple of weeks.
