Well isn't this timely...Yesterday we picked up a 74 Mustang II fastback for my 17 year old son (first car). He was grinning from ear to ear. He had a hard time trying to explain how he was feeling but I told him, I know exactly what you mean...Only 63K miles, in excellent condition. We stopped maybe 3 times on the way home and each time he got a different compliment from people. He found it a little funny that people were driving around in 20 - 30 thousand dollar cars and he was the one getting the compliments for a car he only paid a couple of grand for. I was starting to get jealous.
Now he's bugging me to take him to car shows (its not even on the road yet). He said he was going to come home from school today and just sit in it. I remeber those days....
A quick search for parts and there's not a lot out there for this generation (74 - 78). Hope I did the right thing...
