I've been using the shorter plugs for a month now and all seems to be doing well. Accel 8197 Plug #437S. These are 3/4" hex, .375" reach, gasket seat.

The 1/4" extra space helps. But #2 & #7 are still a problem. I've put 5 gaskets on #2 to push the header out an additional 1/4". #7 has 3 gaskets. I'll cut the headers later to correct for this problem.

Perhaps I'll even change the heads to aluminum with angled plug holes. It is my understanding that angled plugs are the option. Now I need to study a variety of photos to see if it is true.
