Towmaster, how could you forget, the car that placed 2nd in the show & shine was Bernie's and he has a 427FE.
I was one of the many judges for the show & shine this year. Having a number of high quality judges I believe resulted in very fair results.
The quality of cars this year was amazing and there was no shame in not receiving a trophy as just placing near the top of the field was a major achievement in itself.
For anyone looking at improving their scores in the show & shine, it is all about consistency. Every aspect of your car has to be show quality - paint, interior, engine bay, wheels etc. And having your car spotlessly clean goes a long way. I saw a few cars that were scoring more points than the front runners in areas of interior, paint etc, but were let down by their engine bays etc a little. And you just cant come back from it. I also saw some very high quality cars that did not have their bonnets up, so you could not judge the engine bay and had to score it 0.
I would love to find a way to cater better for the non-racing attendees. Maybe a continual show & shine off track with regular prizes during the day.
Maybe even a dyno comp.
Maybe even weighing them all and trophy for lightest and heaviest.
Track cruises.
Something to attract more members & cars outside of the track racing.
Ack, certainly agree, the event is expertly run and a credit to all involved.
