I used the VDO gages in my Cobra and if you are using an electronic tach, check your sending wire. If it gets grounded it will peg the tach. I had a problem with my VDO electronic speedometer as it would suddenly go all the way over. I looked and I guess a rock or piece of rubber from the track had flown up and hit the sending wire for it and had actually tore a small piece of the insulation off and as it vibrated and would touch anything it would cause the speedometer to peg or jump all the way over. I liked the VDO gages and that was the only problem I ever had with them. I especially liked being able to calibrate the speedometer when I changed tires or gears by just driving it a mile.
