Most if not all the oil consumption problems are caused by incorrect oil ring fitment.
Ive pulled several apart to find the support rail above the oil ring & the bottom rail therefore free to flutter all over the place when it arrives over the pin bore & one was a classic- it also had the expander segment overlapped, therefore no rail loading & to make matters worse the expander 'humps' were doing a nice job of grooving the bore... new OS set of pistons & a next size bore for that one!
Never ceases to amaze me how many dummies there are out there...some of them actually hold down jobs in reco shops & yet a couple of weeks later they will be propped up at their local watering hole being an 'expert' when someone else is complaining about a similar issue..
