If you can't make the clearance needed look at adjusting the leaf springs to raise the ride height for the inspection. You can jack the car up and use a spring clamp to "lock" the leafs in a higher ride height.

Spline drive and not pin drive, that is going to be a tough one. I have no connections in that case.
