Oh boy what memories. The radiator fins get bent on small bugs let alone the helicopter sized ones that fly around in Colorado in the late summer.

Here's what I used:

See the little red thing handle with the white plastic. I ordered mine from Jegs I think. Maybe Harbor Freight (don't say anything, for one or two time use tools they can't be beat).


The crosswise move was quite bold. Mine didn't work quite that good.

Then I bought a set of dental pick type tools at the local hardware store.

I just unpacked all of these tools into the Vegas house today. It brought back fond memories.

The downside of these tools is that you will be laying on your back, side, belly, standing on your head, trying to be comfortable while you do it.

My radiator developed a corrosion leak (due to no grounding) so I swapped it out - no bent fins.

I noodled around with a plan for a bug shield but never got motivated to do it. I figured I'd spend as much in R&D as a new radiator from Jegs. They aren't all that much and it took 30 minutes to swap.
