I really want a barn burner in the quarter mile and am thinking about a centrifugal supercharger. The engine builder however is recommending a normally aspirated engine with about 500 horsepower and thinks the supercharger is overkill; says the car will already be difficult enough to launch as it is. As much as I don't want it should I consider a C6 automatic tranny for optimum quarter mile times?

Any thoughts or comments regarding the supercharger and/or automatic tranny would be much appreciated.

Chad,

Are you only planning to drag racing the car?

500hp in a 90" wheelbase, 2,500lb car is overkill as it is. Factually, it only takes 210hp in a car like a Cobra to get you way over your head. Don't get caught up in the HP numbers as the power to weight is where you want to be. Realistically, I'd say 350-400 rear wheel HP is more than you'll ever need, and will be more streetable.......

Just my two cents
