I did the install because if I ever get the EFI going the car will see a little bit of track use at Sebring and similar places. A sump of some kind is mandatory and the Phantom looks like a good way to do it.
Aeromotive probably wants the pump away from the float path for the sender. As long as there's no interference with the movement of the float it would seem OK.
I don't know what your cover looks like for the floor above the tank, but a small dome-shaped bubble might be all you need if there is any interference.
