After ten years of fighting the top to get it up and fastened properly, and suffering numb thumb tips in the process, I finally stumbled on the solution. Now I just put the soft top up,
without the aluminum bows in, and fasten everything down,
AND THEN put the bows in from inside the car. This works like an absolute charm and is 1000% easier than the traditional method.
