I did not have to open the holes up in my front end at all and I used the narrower version. That being said, I did have to modify the frame slightly to make the upper shock mounts clear. I have 10" width wheels on the front and was worried the wider front end would cause me to have to buy new rims. Of course after I bought it, I found out it would have fit, but no big deal either way.
