Blykins, I like a spirited debate it is healthy for all. I thought that I started this line I should add to it the day the new owner took delivery of the car. But we all got the old the only true engines in a Cobra are the Ford 260, 289, 427, and the 428, period. I added that Shelby also had a couple of other engines that he used the 221 which was used by AC for prototype , and the 390 which was used in the Flip Top or The Turd. All Fords but if you wanted a correct replica would also have provenance. That's all I did, I did not reignite the Chevy in a Cobra(or my HotRod that is shaped like a Cobra) debate again.
