Default Door Hinge Limit

When I open my doors too far the edge of the door hits the hinge on the inside. I usually just hold onto the door but now I'm having the car painted and I don't want to take the change of re-damaging the door edge.

Any suggestions to how to prevent this?? I know there are limit straps to use. Are these fastened strong enough not to tear the screws or rivets out?? If you use straps, where exactly do you put them where the mount spot is the strongest to prevent pulling the mounts loose?

DV....you may have answered this before but I can't find the answer. It seems to me you said something about a block on the inside. If you or anyone else can advise me and provide some pics it would be greatly appreciated. It's getting close to paint day and I'd like to have the fix installed or at least ready once it's painted.

Thanks for the help
