This has been tried before. The message is not that you don't own your car but that if you meddle with it, you really and truly OWN it. The manufacturer is off the hook. In other words, don't put a 6L supercharger cut through the hood and go to the dealer complaining about a blown engine or rust on the hood. They especially don't like new exhaust systems either.

Similarly, tuning the engine has never been supported by the dealers and there are many tales of refusing to do work on cars with custom tunes. This is the ones they especially want to watch because of the complexity of the new ECUs isn't a simple fuel map any more.
