Default Starter Issues 2

So my Robb MC starter lasted about a year and is now making odd noises. I ordered a new one so that is in process. Things to note:

1) Factory OEM starters likely will not work on early Shelby Blocks. They are too fat and the block gets in the way.
2) Powermaster 9406/9506 will not work on Shelby blocks due to the lack of adjustment with the solenoid location, i.e. hits headers or block.
3) CVR's may work, but they do not engage into the flywheel enough unless you mill the mounting bracket.

I am trying a couple of others for fit-up tomorrow and will report my findings.

I guess there are some disadvantages to a Shelby block. I would like other options than a Rob Mcc as it seems to lack HP.

If I am wrong on this, please correct me....Ugh...

Phil
