This was posted on the AC Owners Club website in the UK, an amusing tale.....
My Dad was a service manager at a Ford dealer that carried the Cobra's back in the 60's. I remember him telling a story about a wealthy dentist who came in and told his salesman he wanted to buy a 427 Cobra...the salesman after talking to him for a while suggested the 289 would be a better choice but the dentist persisted that he wanted a 427. So they went for a test drive...after the test drive the dentist said you know maybe you are right, maybe I should consider the 289 instead....to which the salesman said, that was the 289..
