I generally use a tray in most customer builds.
I have not seen any power gain on the dyno with the tray. But Ford saw fit to install them in the CJ cars, so they may have some value in a dynamic driving situation. Feels like inexpensive insurance.
I usually use the Canton screen tray - mainly because it clears all the strokers with minimal or no modification. The louvered tray hits sometimes and it harder to modify. The Milodon tray needs quite a bit of work to fit a stroker. The Moroso tray simply won't work at all.
