I did a quick search and came up with this site

While the engine is not the same the wiring info and the specific note on ballast resistor may help. Also found this site with somemore info:

A quote from the site:
"Most electronic ignition systems operate without ballast resistors. The Ford Duraspark II has been used by Ford with and without ballast resistors, although the later schematics show a resistor. I am personally aware of a Duraspark II operating just fine for over a year without a ballast. "
