If I recall, the paint was 'blown over' in the original color since it was far from perfect following the removal of the white. Not sure why the side lights were removed. Plenty of original build 'defects' were left untouched but there are small, very clever (and hard to find) modifications that help make the car easier to live with and drive - the MkIII left a bit to be desired back in the day. Despite the full nut & bolt rebuild, I would guess that in excess of 95% of the car is as was - everything that could be saved was saved. The bag tanks went of course, although the new tanks replicate the shape of the bags (and one of the mods allows easy removal of the fuel tanks, a near-impossible task previously!)

The hardest part of the resto work was to remove a thick layer of nasty black paint that some genius plastered all over the interior when it was painted white!! It might have seemed a good idea at the time....maybe....
