When I put the electric pump on my Cobra for racing I also put in a toggle switch that I could flip to turn power to the pump off. That way I could work on the car with the key on and I always turned it off when I shut the car off. As the toggle switch wasn't marked and I just labeled it Spare, everyone thought it was just an unused switch.
