I did trim some of the leather around the base but that was all I had to do for a great fit. The one I'm using has a small lace that allows you to tighten it around the shifter for a clean look. I installed the new leather one right over the existing rubber boot using the standard chrome ring and mounting screws without any issues. I retained the rubber boot because I was concerned about heat and noise if I was just using the leather. I'm running a Steeda TriAxial billet shifter on my car and I think that the leather boot looks much better than the original rubber unit. I can send you a photo if you want to see the install.

Sorry that it took me so long to get back to you but I had carotid artery surgery on both sides. However I' back in the saddle again. I would love to see the photo of the install.
