Default SPAL fan switch acting goofy

Hello all,

I'm new here & could use a little help. I purchased a CRII car in March of this year & have been cleaning up some little issues with the car. I have a Carbureated 351W 5 speed manual. I was under the car and noted that the Battery negative terminal to the frame was a very poor ground. I cleaned up the lug, burnished the frame & installed new hardware and now I have an issue.

I started the car & checked my SPAL fan switch (dash mounted override) and when I flipped the switch the car died. I flipped the switch back to the off position and the car started right back up. I did this several times to verify the fault. Before I did the grounding work the fan would come on when it was supposed to and off when it was supposed to, and I could turn it on with the switch and the car ran fine, however whenever the fan was on (pre-grounding) the volt meter on the dash would show about 11V. When the fan was off (pre-grounding) it was showing almost 14V.

I ordered a new SPAL FRH in hopes that I can remove what ever wiring is in the fan circuit now and "start from scratch" so to speak.

Is there anyone out there that may have some imput on my situation??

Thanks in advance.

Cory
