It still would be nice if people would comment back on whether the advice was correct or if there was another solution. Having the loop closed helps us neophytes who are trying to fix a problem by teaching us what to look for and possible solutions. As many of these threads will show, the possible solutions offered tend to be quite varied and without closure it is difficult to rule-out possible causes for a problem and solutions to the problem.
It is not so much about the ego of people offering possible solutions (well, not for most of those people

), but rather as an educational training for others.
