You're not going to want to have it in the way when trying to pull the transmission and clutch. It seems like there was a nut and bolt connection of the cable to the brake ratchet on mine - not sure if it might have changed over the years.

I can post pics of mine, but... it's a little newer, it's the ERA parking brake headed to the outboard braked rear, and it's on a Tremec TKO.
