Dean and Ben are right, however my ECU doesn't have the PINS wired on the plug for VSS output. The Commodonor (VF) does need it, cause it uses the CAN-BUS and BCM for all things speedy.

So even if I got my ECU programmer dude to enable the VSS output pin, my cable and plug isn't equipped and I haven't worked out how or if I can add another PIN to my ECU plug. (I tried that last year for something else, but failed!)

Anyway, thanks Gregg and Gav and all. I am going out to the shed tonight to Edison it (eliminate all options), and either make it work or deduce the speedo is faulty! Watch this space...

(By the way, the fuel gauge is in that gauge too and it also doesn't work - but I haven't started debugging that yet!).
