I mounted my extinguisher on the tunnel between the seats. A couple of things to note:

Yes, it makes a good armrest, but I mounted mine with the nozzle end toward the shifter and have scraped my elbow a number of times. I tuck a blanket over it while I'm driving now.

Depending upon how you hold your arm when you shift you may be banging your elbow on the end of the extinguisher.

On a "do-over" I would consider mounting the extinguisher as shown in AZ_Cobra_Mike's picture above. I like the look of the extinguisher mounted on the rollbar down by the passenger footwell, but this might result in scratched legs or passenger discomfort.

I'd mount it onto the panel like AZ Mike's photo.
