I've heard that many have offered ridiculous amounts of money for it, but the owner will not sell. I'll bet he or she wants to keep business flowing through the showroom with that attention-getter.

There were quite a few dealers that held the car for the owner. When I first started looking there was a dealer Kansas that had one "on the books" but when I called they wanted 350K for it (that was when red cars were selling for 170). The guy explained it was the owners car and they had to have a price on it to carry it on the dealer plan for insurance etc. I think he still has the car (and the price has gone up to match the absurdity). And it certainly is a draw to get people in the door that might otherwise just walk around.
P.S. For the new gt, dealer owners that want a car for their own personal use have to apply just like the rest of us. Their ranking/rating system will be different from ours, and they will compete for a different pool of cars.
