Update: I put the ring gear in the oven for 25 minutes at 425 degrees and put the flywheel in the freezer for the same amount of time.

The ring gear snugly fit right over the flywheel. Didn't have to hit with a hammer. Just slide over. I wasn't able to spin it when i got it on though. Would have like to been able to do that to make sure it seated well. Maybe 475 degrees would have been better.
